Shamrocks Against Dystrophy
Paint the town green and gold. Kaladi Brothers Coffee is one of dozens of Alaska businesses participating in the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s annual Shamrocks Against Dystrophy program. Shamrock mobiles, costing $1 for green and $5 for gold, can be purchased for display at all Kaladi Brothers Coffee Cafes in Alaska. The initiative will help provide services to approximately 300 Alaska families, according to MDA Alaska. The funding will go to services including clinic visits, medical examinations, flu shots, assistance with the repair of wheelchairs and leg braces, a week long summer camp for children aged 6-17, and support groups for MDA clients and families.
“Many lives are touched by Muscular Dystrophy. We are honored to be involved with efforts to help Alaska families,” said Tim Gravel, owner of Kaladi Brothers Coffee. “It’s more than making great coffee. Our cause at Kaladi Brothers is to help build strong communities throughout Alaska.”
Shamrocks Against Dystrophy is a national initiative involving hundreds of businesses across the United States. MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat more than 40 neuromuscular diseases.
