Halloween Celebrations
Our cause is to be a Catalyst for Community. As such, we are supporting several local events to provide families with safe options to celebrate Halloween.
Haunted Halloween Fun Night
Oct. 30, 1 – 7 p.m.
Members of the UAA Office of Student Clubs and Greek Life are working hard to organize Haunted Halloween Fun Night. Families can look forward to trick-or-treating, games, activities and even a haunted house. Tickets, costing 25 cents each, can be purchased for the activities. A portion of ticket proceeds will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. In addition, there will be free trick-or-treating stations integrated among the activity booths.
Kaladi Brothers Coffee, GCI and several other local businesses teamed up to support the event. Through this support, student clubs are able to provide two new activity booths sponsored by Over The Rainbow Toys and Classic Toys. New Sagaya is donating goodies, TSS Alaska stepped in to staff a booth and to distribute goodies to trick-or-treaters, GCI is providing helium balloons, face painting and additional event support. Kaladi Brothers Coffee will be serving up hot drinks and will donate all drink proceeds to Make-A-Wish Foundation. These are just a few of many examples of ways businesses are helping to enhance the event this year. For additional information, contact Ashley Durst at 786-1385.
Trick or Treat Street
Oct. 30, 2 – 5 p.m.
Thank you to the Anchorage Downtown Partnership, Anchorage Press and other businesses for organizing Trick or Treat Street. The event is for the whole family where kids can come downtown with their parents to trick-or-treat for candy in a safe environment, on 4th Avenue and 5th Avenue, between C Street and L Street. There will be games, treats and prizes at participating merchants and a Halloween stamp map where kids and parents come in and get their maps stamped at every location. Completed maps will be entered into a drawing for prizes. The Kaladi Brothers Coffee Downtown café will be participating.
